No,No Lester

Unreal. Absolutely unreal. Jon Lester looked dominant tonight. Got ahead of the hitters all night. Fastball was in the 92-95 mph range with a cutter at around 88. Throw in a breaking pitch for a strike and you've got stuff for a no hitter performance.

Granted the Royals are not an offensive machine but Lester had professional hitters swinging and missing all night. He challenged hitters all night with his stuff. First pitch strikes were ridiculous. Something like twenty-one out of thirty hitters. Hopefully, this propels him to trust himself.

Congrats to Jon Lester.

A couple of side notes: Jason Varitek now has caught a major league record four no hitters (Nomo, Lowe, Bucholz, Lester). Coincidence?? I think not. How about Francona taking out Lugo for Cora for defense in the ninth? Interesting. Very interesting.

What about Hillman taking out Grudzielank (sp?) who happens to be their best hitter, for a no name in the last inning? Suspicious? I call it Red Sox nation baby!

Great game (understatement). If this was a glimpse into the future of what this kid can be, Theo & the boys in baseball ops made the right decision of not trading him for Johan and his exorbitant contract. The cancer survivor angle only makes it that much sweeter. You can tell by listening to Francona in his post game press conference how much he & the organization care about him. Not so much what he does on the field but what he brings off of it.

good points by both ... I'd still take Santana over ELster though ... sorry, I'm pretty stubborn
